Took Steps!

This weekend was lots of fun! We drove down to Fresno with my Sis and her boyfriend, packed all day Saturday, then went to the walk that afternoon and it was a great success!

And remember how I said I'd remember to take some photos for you? Yeah, it helps to remember to bring your camera...ugh.

Thanks so much to everybody for all your support and sweet words and donations! We were able to raise almost double what our original goal was, and we couldn't have done it without you - THANK YOU!!

Of course, that means that it's time to announce a winner for all that yumminess I posted last week, isn't it? I carried over all those entries from the previous weeks, and combined them with the new entries since Friday, and the result was over 300 entries!!

And the winner iiiiiiiissssss:

Lee of Crafty Loops!! She has been so supportive since I first blogged about this, and has a pretty awesome blog, too!

Congrats Lee - send me your address and I'll get your goodies across the pond as soon as possible!

Have a great day!

Simply Create!!

Here's a little sneak peek of a class I have coming up in November at It's going to be mini mania, friends! I'm going to show you all kinds of ideas for mini books - both long-term and event-focused - and all kinds of ways to bind them, make your own, and give you lots of free printables so you can make lots of unique minis for yourself, or for gifting this holiday season!

This is a simple little mini that I made using some Authentique and Cosmo Cricket papers. I added a stamped and inked Maya Road Chipboard piece and some My Mind's Eye brads to the cover. But the most awesome part of this mini is the inside pages.

I used some of Cosmo Cricket's new Tiny Text stickers as journaling prompts in the center of each page. And lemme just tell you, there are a LOT of good ones on those sticker sheets! I was wishing I'd have put more than 12 pages in this book by the time I got to the end!

I like the idea of this being a journal that I pick up every now and then - maybe once a week - and just jot down how I feel about the prompt. It's good to write, just to get things off your chest, and also to look back on to see how you'd respond now. I also like the idea of maybe taking the pages and using them as the journaling on future pages, as I find photos that go with the journaling.

These are some of the things we'll be talking about in the class, so I hope you'll join us! The class is going to be the first week in November - my birthday month - so we'll also be having a fun giveaway to go along with it! It's going to be lots of fun, and I'm going to be using the November kit to make all my projects, so you'll definitely want to check in at closer to the date to get your hands on a kit of your own. I'll be posting more info about how you can register for this class very soon!

Always Together

We just finished up our Summer Layout Tag over at and I wanted to share mine with you! I used bits of the Mary Ellen and Salt Water Taffy kits, which I think are both still available in the shop.

That's all for today!
If you want to play along on our next tag, be sure to sign up at the Noel Mignon message board and sign up. It's so much fun to see the progression from the first layout to the last!

Now & Always

Hiya! Here's my challenge layout for this week's new color inspiration challenge over at NoelMignon Challenge Blog. Can I just say that I LOVE the palette Noel chose? I can? Okay, good. I LOVE IT!!!

I have been wanting to use this palette for a while, and it is perfect for our wedding photos. Me thinks I may just have to make a whole series of these layouts and put them all in one album for the wedding.

I am loving making things all splattery and layery and glittery lately, and this layout is no exception. I used blue and cream spray paint to get the splatters and then spritzed up the tissue to give it an aged look. The chipboard Thickers got a good coat of Glimmer Glam and oh la la do I love that!

To give things a little more umph, I added a few little circle stickers by Sass and a few yellow foam dots and tiny chipboard dots from my packs of Thickers.

That little tabbed piece to the top left of the photo is a journaling tag that I tucked behind with all my super poignant journaling...
If you're curious how to do these splatters on your layouts, just head on over to the Technique Blog and watch the video I made.

Split Splat

Today I've got a tutorial on the different mediums and techniques I use to get that splatter effect we all love so much over at the Noel Mignon Technique Blog. Now, there's really no exact science to it, but hey, you ask - I deliver!

Here's a peek at a layout I made using a couple of these techniques - come back tomorrow for the full reveal!

Happy Scrappin'!!

I'm hoping to have all the kinks ironed out in the next couple of days and then you can expect to see some exciting new things coming out!

Okay, that's all for now - gotta get back to getting this place into shape!

A Quick Card

Well, I don't know about you, but I had a great three-day weekend! We went to a wedding on Saturday, to the Alameda Antique Fair on Sunday, and P.F. Chang's in Walnut Creek last night for dinner. YUM! We had a busy weekend, but I still found some time to make a quick little birthday card to show you today.

I made this for my sister-in-law's birthday. It is on a 6x6 base, rather than being a standard folding card.  I used a couple of bits and pieces from the Study Hall kit, along with a bunch of scraps from my own stash.

I sewed the top flap to the base so that it would make a little flip-up front to hide this tag (which eventually got a Starbucks card stuck to it) and then I tied a 2' piece of twine to the tag and wrapped it around the whole card to secure everything together.

Here's a little closeup of the front. How much do I loooove those Jenni Bowlin banner stickers? Um, a LOT. And the twine is by Creative Impressions - I get asked that a lot, and I really love theirs!

So that's all for today. I hope you all had a great weekend and got to catch up on some much-needed good times! Now I'm off to take a nap - I'm BEAT!!
