I am 28 today. Yee friggin' ha.

I don't feel old, but I am definitely not feeling exactly young, either. Gravity is already a bitch and I seem to be acquiring more and more freckles strewn all over my face. I continue to blame the pill for the ellbees I keep packing on, and we haven't even had any kids yet! Am I the only 28 year old that feels weird to not have any kids, when my entire career revolves around scrapbooking and nannying? And yet I haven't scrapped a single photo of my own family or friends in God only knows how long. Um yeah, it's a little weird.

On the bright side, I get to give one of you this amazing necklace from Grandmother's Buttons! It's seriously been staring at me this week, begging me to wear it. And I came close to giving in...

So without further ado....

Natalie has left a new comment on your post " Can I just say, I love me some buttons! I love al...":

I hope you all enjoy the fat and lazy feeling you'll have later today! For now, I'm up early (well, earlier than everyone else) to get the turkey going. Then deviled eggs, baked beans, jello salad, green bean casserole, and surprisingly - aside from heating the ham and rolls, that's IT! Usually we end up with like, five different kinds of potatos, three different stuffings, and an assortments of other totally unnecessary (but nevertheless delicious) side dishes that sit in our refrigerators for a week before they end up getting tossed, because no one - NO ONE - could possibly manage to finish all that food. And while I must confess to gorging on Thanksgiving food for a day or two after the big day, round about day three, I want to poke myself in the eye with the wishbone...

So this year is simple. Just the basics. I even bought a Costco Pumpin Pie. And the shame is nearly overtaking me. But I must confess that it is way better and faster than what I would have made. How do I know it's better? Well, after Eric cut into it last night - I couldn't say no, since it's just us this year (and my mom and sis and her fiancee) - I felt that the tiny slice I cut myself for breakfast wouldn't even be noticed. No judgement, people!

As if I worry about judgement after sharing half of this cheese platter and a bottle of Moscato with my mom for dinner last night...
Oh, and in case you don't know, there is still time to enter the Grandmother's Buttons giveaway! You have until Saturday to enter to win that adorable and amazing necklace and then I will announce the winner on Tuesday!

Well, that's all for me today - time to put my hand in places of a turkey that should never be touched...
See you on Tuesday!

I sometimes forget that while it feels like I am always working on something, always turning in projects, and always have something on the drawing board, that most of you don't get to see those projects for months down the line, if at all. As is the case with my work for The Spotted Canary and all of the EK Success Brand Sites, including K&Co, EK Tools, Jolee's Boutique, Inkadinkado, and Laliberi.

I've told you a little bit about my job with them before, but I have to say again what a stinkin' lucky lady I am to be able to work for them! My boss, Toni, is the sweetest and most generous chick ever (even though she probably won't like me calling her such a slangy term as a chick! wink wink... ) and she keeps me stocked up on fun product and challenging projects all the time!

Last month I turned in my Christmas projects, and they are just starting to go live on the Spotted Canary site! It was definitely a scary thing to be assigned a theme that is so NOT "me", like the Apres Ski projects that I made. I mean, I looooove the sophistocated Ralph Lauren-ee leather and plaid and metal studs equestrian look in theory, but I can tell you there is not a single thing in my house or albums that looks like that!!

But I must say that I am so pleased with how all of my projects turned out. It is harder than it looks to take a box of product that you didn't choose (and in some cases wouldn't have ever chosen if I were actually given the choice) and turn them into something that fits the assigned requirements and that you can actually be proud to put your name on. I mean, I could crank out a bunch of crap all day long, and there would be a lot of people that would accept it as okay, but I would be humiliated!! So I take a lot of pride in the work that I do with EK Success because it is always a challenge - sometimes an easy one, sometimes really tough - but it is always rewarding to see the final product come together.

For these projects I was give a theme call Apres Ski, the color pallet that went with it, and a pamphlet of different examples of the theme used throughout the fashion/home/design industries, and a big box of product. My box had tons of felt and metal studs to go along with the theme, as well as several punches, some paper and then I added whatever extras I needed. I LOVE those Christmas trees I made - they were so simple but I would totally put them in my house. And the felt wine bottle cozy is so not something I would use, but I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to stitch some really high quality felt. I love the effect, and can use the technique with a different color pallet that will be great for my house! There are other projects at the site, and more to come that haven't been posted yet, too.

So that's all for today. I'm finishing up some work for SRM Press this week that is also in that category of I-can't-show-you-until-CHA, so I'm hoping that I will get a little bit of time this weekend to play with some project life goodies again, cause God knows I dropped the ball on that project...

And for those of you who haven't entered the last Freebie Friday, be sure to hop over to that post and get your entries in!

Happy Almost Friday!!

Can I just say, I love me some buttons! I love all kinds - wood, enamel, sparkly, old and rusty. Stacked, threaded, bunched together and in rows. They are a go-to embellie in my studio, and I am so happy that my new favorite thing has become a go-to embellie in my jewelry box as well!

Now, this is a totally different kind of a freebie over here, and let me tell you why.

One of my very favorite people I met while at Cal Poly - who has since left us all here for Baton Rouge, LA (boo) - is the store manager and buyer for Grandmother's Buttons, in St. Francisville, LA. Pretty sweet gig, if you ask me! So when Kelly asked if I'd be interested in doing a giveaway I was instantly on board!! So she said to pick out what I like and she'd see what she could do. And lemme tell ya, it is no easy task to just pick out "a couple" of things from that catalog! Every page had something I had to have! It is seriously filled with tons of amazing and totally unique jewelry and I so want to pick up a few more pieces! A few weeks later, up showed a box with TWO gorgeous necklaces in it! One for me, and one for YOU!!
Are you salivating yet? Um yes. I wear this with all kinds of outfits - it adds the perfect amount of fancy but is super playful at the same time. And the colors go with like, everything!!

I have to say, I was so torn when I dug into the box and found out I had to give this one away! I thought for sure there would be a clear favorite for me between the two necklaces, and that giving it away wouldn't hurt because the other one was so fab. But this hurts. It hurts a lot. This little lady has been sitting on my work table for a few weeks now, just staring me in the face and I've become sort of attached to it!! Nevertheless, one of you lucky ladies will be getting it pretty soon!!! Excited?

Now here's the deal. To nab your entry for this freebie, head on over to Grandmother's Buttons and pick out your favorite piece from the collection and leave me a comment telling me what it is. For another entry, repost this freebie of Facebook, Twitter, or reblog about it!! This giveaway will run until Saturday, November 24th, and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 27, which also just so happens to be my birthday!!

That's all for today!
Have a great weekend, and if you're in the Sacramento area, come say hi to me at the Scrapbook Grammie booth today and tomorrow at the Scrapbook Expo!
