So here's the picture from today. And can I just say THANK GOD FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!!! Last week's picture was TERRIBLE! And to be honest, spurred a total meltdown, followed by a heinous migraine. I seriously had to put myself on a timeout...
And here's last week's, just to prove how awful that session turned out. I literally had two pictures to choose from that weren't total crap.
Well, it's been a while, you guys! We ended up staying with my Mom for two weeks when she busted her foot, so the last two weeks of Tuesday pictures just didn't happen. So bummed about that, but me thinks we have lots of them to look at, and will manage to be okay with that! lol!
Anyway, here is the photo from today. This kid is becoming quite the wriggle worm. The days of fifty pictures to choose from are quickly fading into, "please just sit still for ONE picture!" and hoping that one isn't blurry!
Love this kind of candid-looking shot. And he looks so calm.
But the expression on his face in this one was too good to pass up! Those little teeth are adorbs!
Look at me, remembering to get this done first thing! Yay, Mommy!
He is getting so stinkin' big! I took a Tuesday picture with him in this outfit a while back, and man has he filled it out! His nine month appointment is in a few weeks, and I can't wait to find out how big he's really gotten!
Also, my post is up over at the Noel Mignon Layout Blog, so go take a look! It has a roundup of all my Tea for Two kit projects I made this month, and some cute inspiration for more projects in October, using the new Early Autumn kit!
Ok, wow. So it's a good thing the Reed is a living, breathing embodiment of my responsibility to post here. And I still don't always remember on time, even with him! HA! I realized that in the rush of blog writing and posting for Noel Mignon and Pretty Little Studio, I completely skipped posting over here! Sometimes I feel a little ridiculous, just reposting what I already put up somewhere else, but it's a little boring to just look at single photos each week, too. Even if the subject is adorable.
Which he is.
So here is a layout that I have over at the Noel Mignon Layout Blog today. It is for a challenge that was presented to me as part of this week's Design Team Challenge Week. And I have to confess that scrapbooky-type challenges are not my
favorite thing. So thank GOD for @BeckyWilliams for giving me this beyond easy challenge of "use five patterned papers" and saving me from the agony of pushing myself as a designer. I mean, ick.
So here's what I came up with. And may I just say, I used EIGHT patterned papers?! Yes, I did.
used the woodgrain paper to cut a heart background with my Cameo, then
backed some of the insides of the hearts with various scraps I had from
the kit. And it always feels good to use up those babies, dontcha think?
That took four patterned papers. And although they don't photograph
well, that little gold foil confetti is amazing! It worked perfectly to
scatter it over the pink splatters that are already printed on the
cut apart the 6x6 butterfly paper from the Daily Diary kit and placed a
few of them around the page. I also finally used a few of the butterfly
wood veneers I've gotten in past NM kits. On this one, I used that
adorable "this life" rubon, and can I say, I see a lot of this technique
in my future?! Under the butterflies is the back side of the
kraft/white diagonal striped paper. I just cut out the strip I had
leftover and love that it looks like a file folder! On top of that I
layered and stitched the designed side of the label strip on one of the
am so out of practice with my pop-dotting these days, since I stay away
from them in my Project Life albums. So I am having this great feeling
of YEESSSS getting to pop up that cute circle, over which I layered over
the "smile" vellum piece from the Crate Paper Notes and Things ephemera
pack. And you can also see a sliver of that floral paper I layered
under my photo.
can I tell you how much I LOVE that I was able to use up the last of
the MME brads from the Sweet & Simple kit? I leave all of my
favorite embellies in a little container to carry over to new kits, and I
get such a thrill when I use them all up! Here you can see just a hint
of the journaling tag tucked under the photo.
And here you can see it pulled out, Brittny-scrawl all over it. Which I'm coming to love. And hoping Reed can decipher as an adult...
I am in love. Major big time, guys. Noel's newest kit, Tea for Two, is seriously the
best. This month I am playing with the Daily Diary kit and all the paper
from the big kit. Had to have the extra paper kit. Trying to decide between sides A and B is going to be like
choosing between your children...
Here's another spread from my album...
been using the Maggie Holmes Flea Market and Dear Lizzy 5th &
Frolic editions in my album so far, so that I can keep with the color
palette that I've set, and Tea for Two is the PERFECT addition! Love how
the little bits of ephemera and those wood veneer stickers match
am loving those Crate Paper rubons. Like a lot. And gold is something I
can't get enough of these days. I cut out a million and one shapes with
my Cameo from their gold sticker paper, and I layered this little house
with that cute blue patterned paper, and the typed words paper (both
from Pebbles) and stuck down a wood veneer heart, and a little enamel
heart from my stash. The xoxo is a rubon from that amazing set, and the
writing on the bottom is my own scrawl.
A simple card. Straight out of the kit, slapped a rub-on at the top, and journaled. That's it.
is a 4x6 card from the kit, put the photo onto a scrap tag from a past
kit, stuck on the two different washi's from this and the Sweet
& Simple kit, and stitched it onto the card, leaving a pocket to
slide in a journaling tag.
is one of the tags I cut out from the CP Notes & Things sheet,
punched a hole and tied on a couple more tiny tags from the ephemera
pack and tied them all together with a bow. Noel put an awesome date
stamp in a kit a million years ago, and I use that little puppy ALL THE
TIME! Added a little journaling and tucked her behind the photo. Easy
all for me today - now we're off to Nana and Grandpa's house for some swimming, because this kid LOVES the water. Good thing I'm extra buoyant these days...
Have a great weekend!
I love that "This Moment" card - it was perfect to add just a tiny amount of journaling to finish it off. And the little gold cloud, butterfly, alpha and word stickers are a very close second. It's crazy how few pictures I actually took the first half of the month. I really had to dig to get the few that are there. If you see how freakishly swollen my feet are, you can imagine how big the rest of me was. So yeah, you're not missing much...
Now the second half of the month - that's a whole other story. There was a brand new baby to look at, and so, from here on out, there will be photo overload.
Here's some closeups of some of the cards I made featuring Pretty Little Studio. Keepin' it simple, friends. It's the only way I'll ever catch up...
My first post for Pretty Little Studio is up over on the blog! I am
IN LOVE with all the cute little vintage papers and die-cuts they make,
and am making them a big part of my Project Life and Baby Reed's albums!
The confetti packs are a great way to add a little movement, and HELLO! that gold foil sticker melts my heart.
I love the coordinating flair pieces, and the little banner cut-outs and labels make life a little easier, for sure!
have a post up over at the Pretty Little Studio blog every week, so be
sure to check it out! There are some seriously good designers over
there, doing lots of fun work!
Last weekend LaLa took us on a field trip to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and omg it was a blast! Reed just staaaaaared at all the animals and more than anything, just loved holding on to all the railings. Cuz he's a weirdo like that. LaLa was in charge of Reed, while I took about a thousand pictures of our day, and even managed to get a few of me with my little man, too.
Noel Mignon is having a cruise crop via Facebook right now, and I made this layout for a challenge I posted as part of the week's activities, called 'Maiden Voyage' - all about scrapbooking a "first time" something in your life. And I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it. I
am using a mix of the Noel Mignon Sweet & Simple kits and the South Shore
big kit (sorry, already sold out!) for this layout.
I must confess
that I am so not a "red" person - I usually don't use it in my layouts
almost at all, but my mamala's red shirt kinda made it completely
necessary, so red it is!! And it's a good thing both of these kits work
so well for the green/red/mint/wood grain palette!
is probably the least complicated filler card I've ever made. Cut down
the paper, hot glued the chipboard camera to the card, hot glued the
summer chipboard banner to the camera, then tucked the two pennant
stickers on each side. Then of course I added a couple of enamel dots.
Cause ya hafta.
And that's it. And I feel oddly good about it.
Something totally different than my usual style about one of the
sweetest firsts on our little guy's record!
